How To Select Wedding Accessories For Your Bridesmaids

Your wedding party offers you the support and company you need on your big day. If you don’t like attention, they are the perfect distraction. And for that reason, they need to look amazing on your wedding day. Hopefully, you have a team of ladies who are easy to work with.

What To Consider As You Choose Your Wedding Shirt

It’s true, the groom’s attire isn’t usually given half of the attention that goes to the bride’s outfit. But that doesn’t have to remain that way. Every item in the groom’s outfit is important. This includes the suit, shirt, shoes, and all other accessories that complement the look. In this post, we look at the shirt.

Important Pre-Wedding Roles For Bridesmaids

Ingenious Ways To Create The Perfect Ambiance At Your Wedding

Have you ever been to an event where everything was perfect except one thing and couldn’t quite place your finger on what was wrong? Or perhaps it was a celebration but the music wasn’t upbeat or easy to dance to? Maybe also, you went to a reunion with your high school classmates and everything about the event was nostalgic. What is the difference between these events? The answer is simple- ambiance. It’s an intangible quality but it makes all the difference, doesn’t it?

Well, as you plan for your wedding, you would want to have the best ambiance. Depending on your objectives, you can use various things to bring out the right mood at your big event. Here are some creative ways to do this.

LIGHTING FOR ROMANCE

What better way to make your wedding more meaningful than to create a romantic ambiance? Not only will you enjoy the wedding more, you’ll also spread the love to your guests.

And how can you capture the feeling of love between two individuals and turn it into an atmosphere filled with romance, affection, and love for you and your guests to celebrate your special day and make memories that will last a lifetime? It may sound simple, but it all starts with the lighting.

Lighting is the key component of setting a romantic mood…

Cafe lights are an amazing and versatile way to create a warm glow. They can be used inside, outside, or in tents. Line the inside of a clear top tent with cafe lights to create the feeling of a starry night. For outdoor receptions, use cafe lights to light up paths and entrances and exits to ensure visibility for your guests safety.

Edison lights give off a vintage romantic feeling and are a unique lighting choice…For the final romantic touch, add greenery and florals from your florist. Read more at IES Productions

There are many other lighting styles that are sure to warm your ceremony. To make the most of them, consider meeting the venue owners to determine what they’ll offer and what you need to add.

MUSIC FOR VARIOUS MOODS

It is said that music has the ability to bypass the conscious mind without your permission. That means it can influence the feelings and set the mood at any event, including your wedding. Don’t miss out on this simple but powerful tool.

The key to keeping everyone happy while staying true to your own tastes as a couple is to present a varied, well-planned wedding playlist that contains romantic tunes as well as ultra-danceable hits. Most weddings have guests of all ages, so picking a few greatest hits from different decades (going back to the 1960s or even earlier) will ensure that older generations get up and jive as well. A wedding is a party, but it is also a celebration of love, so make sure to include at least one slow song after a series of four or five dance ones. Try to include a nice blend of rock, EDM, hip-hop, r&b and other genres you know are favored by many of your guests. Make sure to include a few of ‘your songs’, jazzing up the evening with a slide show of your favorite Instagram pics. Read more at Ur Design Mag

If you’re hiring a DJ, consider having a meeting to agree on the playlist. Or better still, if you can compile your own playlist, you won’t be disappointed by his choice of tracks.

VARIOUS ADDITIONS

There’s nothing that compares with a personalized wedding. This sets it apart from any other in such a way that it is unique to only you. Consider the unique details that as a couple you’d like to share with your guests.

  • Walk to nostalgia. As you walk down the aisle to the ceremony altar, play a tune that was meaningful while you were dating – even if it’s a fast or silly song.

  • Display family heritage. Honor your family or cultural traditions by including them in your wedding space. Use family photos, clothing, decor, and anything else that is important to you.

  • Create a custom drink. Set up a drink bar that serves all your favorites, whether it’s diet sodas or fancy cocktails. Send everyone home with cards that have the ingredients for a custom wedding-themed drink.

  • Play games. Create an area for your favorite games. Ball sports aren’t usually good for weddings – because people are in dressy clothes – but it’s easy to play cornhole, horseshoes, croquet, and other low-impact games. And it’s great for energetic kids! Read more at The Legends Golf Club

You’ll be a winner if you can hack a wedding ceremony ambiance that still feels as comfortable and casual as a hangout with friends.

All this would be meaningless if the bride and groom look anything less than perfect. That’s why at New York Bride & Groom of Columbia, we take no chances. Our sheer joy is in seeing brides and grooms dressed in designer attire. We also have accessories that make the look complete. Visit us today to see what we have in store for you!

Three Advantages of An Indoor Wedding Venue

Wedding venues can be classified into two, outdoor and indoor. Indoor wedding venues are a must-have for you if you want an exclusive enclosed and intimate space. They are also perfect if you need a place that has multiple facilities under one roof. Moreover, an indoor venue will not be subject to the elements, so you get to do your décor just the way you want it.

For starters, the Ideal indoor venues include hotels, historical sites or mansions, houses of worship, stand-alone halls, and barns, among others. These spaces are fantastic since you can easily build up a theme with them. For example, you could have a country wedding at a barn or a classic-themed wedding at a historical site. So, here are some reasons why you should definitely use an indoor wedding venue:

IT IS NOT AFFECTED BY THE WEATHER

It is extremely hard to do an outdoor wedding while it’s snowing, or when it’s raining, and even on extremely hot days. Indoor spaces facilitate weddings all year round spiced up with indoor climate control tools. But that does not mean that your ideal theme can’t succeed. With a great designer, you can pull off a summer wedding in the middle of winter in your indoor venue.

Not much definition needed on this one. Indoor weddings protect you from any inclement weather that might roll in. But if you are a nature lover, we suggest that you book a wedding venue such as Bavaria Downs because we designed our ballroom to bring the outdoors in. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide you and your guests with incredible views of our expansive property. You definitely have the best of both worlds. Read more from Bavaria Downs…

So whether it’s summer or winter, nothing can stop your plans for an amazing wedding. So, you can still do your wedding just the way you want it.

ALL-INCLUSIVE FACILITY

Since many indoor venues are long-standing facilities they tend to have many events in mind when being constructed. This means you will find a kitchen, washrooms and for hotels, you have rooms where your guests can spend the night.

This will save you the hustle of trying to get multiple service providers to cover your wedding.

Indoor wedding venues have packages that include necessities such as tables and chairs, lighting, a dance floor, restrooms, and adequate space for wedding vendors. While it may not allow for as much creative freedom, an all-inclusive indoor wedding venue will likely save you time and money by using the structural features and vendors readily available. MORE INTIMATE

With an outdoor venue with a lot of space, it may mean your guests can easily group themselves in various corners. But an indoor venue naturally controls the use of space. This creates some warmth and intimacy that would have been lost.

Although some might find that an indoor venue might reduce their guest list, indoor weddings allow for a more intimate gathering with family and close friends. You’ll be able to mingle and spend more time with your guests than you would at an outdoor wedding, and the guests themselves are more likely to feel like one big group as opposed to several, smaller huddles. By not being exposed to the elements in the same way an outdoor wedding is, indoor weddings are in season all year round (although Winter is usually the way to go if you want that cosy and warm feel!) But are you scared that you don’t have a gown that will complement your ideal venue? Worry no more. New York Bride & Groom Columbia exists to make your day a great success. We have gowns and suits for persons of all sizes. So don’t let your great day come without visiting us for your gown. Contact us today.

Important Pre-Wedding Roles For Bridesmaids

The bridesmaids’ team is very important to the bride. They could be her relatives or close friends. Ideally, they need to help out throughout the whole wedding process. That includes the pre-wedding phase, during the wedding day itself, and after the big day. They aren’t the ones to sit and look pretty, that’s the bride’s role on her day! So, if you’ve been chosen by your friend as a bridesmaid, this guide should help you know what the bride would want you to do before the wedding.

SHOW UP

Yes, your girl needs you to be the kind of person she can count on to be available when she needs you. This includes her bridal shower, rehearsals, rehearsal dinner, and every important event before the wedding. You need to show up, show up, show up the more. Any bride needs her friends to be close at this phase.

Attend all the things. And there will be quite a few events! Engagement party. Bridal showers (try to at least attend one, if you can’t make multiple events). Bachelorette party. Rehearsal. Rehearsal dinner. Getting ready together. The wedding (a non-negotiable!). Being a bridesmaid will quickly fill up your calendar, but hey – lots of excuses to get dressed up and celebrate a person you love!

The bride may or may not ask all of her bridesmaids to attend dress try-ons and fittings, but if she does ask and you can make one or two trips, it’s a very nice gesture to tag along and offer honest but always supportive, positive advice.

Additionally, the bride may ask certain bridesmaids to take on certain roles within the ceremony or reception (reading passages, giving toasts, etc.). Do your best to cheerfully accept these roles, even if they’re a bit out of your comfort zone. Read more from Brides of North Texas

Always be cheerful in showing up, let your girl know you have got her. Prepare your schedules and calendars well so that you are able to come through when the bride needs you.

BE EMOTIONALLY SUPPORTIVE

It is a bridesmaid’s responsibility to be there for the bride especially during seasons of stress and tension. Well, actually the whole wedding planning is that season. Let your girl know that you are there if she needs to rant or cry a little.

Wedding planning is as stressful as it is exciting. First and foremost, it’s important to be there for the bride in those moments of tension. “Be available as much as you’re able! You don’t have to be at their beck and call, but it’s nice for the bride to know that their bridesmaids are there for them as their closest friends and best supporters,” Yu says.

It’s also important to support the maid of honor. A lot of the burden falls on them to get things started with pre-wedding events, but not all MOHs are natural planners. “It is a group effort especially where any planning is involved, and it’s important to set that tone from the beginning.” Read more from Brides

Be emotionally present for other bridesmaids as well as the maid of honor. One can never have enough emotional support.

HELP WITH THE GENERAL WEDDING PREPARATIONS

The bride will need her bridesmaids to help here and there with the wedding planning to ease her burden. In case the bride needs you to run an errand for them, help out gladly.

Of course, you’ll also need to help your bestie with wedding preparations. The biggest task to complete? Getting your wedding day outfit. Often, to-be-weds will choose a color or style for their bridal party to wear. Ask them what they’re picturing and follow instructions—even if it’s not your favorite style or color. We know it’s tempting to ask for an exception to whatever bridesmaid dress or outfit they’ve picked, but remember: the wedding is about your friend, not you. If you genuinely feel uncomfortable with the given requirements, speak to your friend privately to come up with a compromise.

You might also be called upon to help your bestie find their wedding day outfit. Read more from The Knot

As you help with the planning process, it will help the bride have time to do other important errands.

Another super exciting task you could include is helping your girl in selecting her bridal gown and the groomsmen to select their suits. To make your work easier, you should check out the New York Bride and Groom of Columbia salon. We have quality wedding wear for both the bride and groom along with their wedding party.

In this post, we look at the shirt, because not any shirt can be worn with any suit. There are some details to consider. They include the collar, cuffs, and front placket.

The Collar

If you are a person who isn’t given to detail and have had a conversation about collars, then this will help you. Picking out a shirt for your wedding will need you to understand the various components of a collar. Here they are:

  • Collar Points are the tips of the collar.

  • Collar Point Length is the distance from the collar point to the seam of the collar band.

  • A collar Band is the piece of fabric or fold that wraps around the neck.

  • Collar Height is the height of a folded collar as it fits on the neck.

  • Collar Tie Space is the distance between the top of the folded collar parts where the shirt is buttoned.

  • Collar Spread is the angle between each of the Collar Points. Read more at Bewakoof

So then, the various types of collars depend on variances within these components. For a formal wedding, you may need a wing collar.

THE CUFFS

The word “cuff” should make you think of the wrists. Different cuff types are available but not all of them are suitable for a formal event. What’s more, depending on the type of cuff, it can be visible or not. Here are some common cuff types:

The Barrel Cuff

The barrel cuff is the most common type of cuff seen on shirts.

The corners of the cuff can be square (sporting a right angle), angled (or mitered: corners of the cuff are sewn at a 45-degree angle) or rounded (the top corners are rounded off). The cuff is fastened by the use of either one or two buttons (one button barrel cuff or two buttons barrel cuff)…

The French Cuff

The French cuff a.k.a. double cuff doubles the length of the barrel buff, allowing the excess fabric to be folded back over itself and secured with either a cufflink or silk knot.

The French cuff is the most formal cuff design that are perfect for the dressed-up black tie events where typically tuxedoes are worn. Read more Ethan Men

You can choose a shirt with a convertible cuff, and use either a button or a cufflink to fasten the cuff.

THE PLACKET

No, this is not a mysterious part of the shirt. It’s simply the part that holds the buttons. There are various styles for the placket as the following post describes.

Standard

On a basic dress shirt, the buttons that close the shirt are visible. It’s the most traditional, no-fuss look that can work in both professional and social settings.

Hidden

A more formal design completely hides the buttons of a shirt. This clean, polished, and modern semblance looks great for a wedding and pairs sublimely with a bowtie.

Bib

A more formal design that features a special piqué fabric sewn on the front. The pleated patterning is very high-society and a perfect fit for grooms and groomsmen to wear with classic tuxedos. Read more at Brides

Whatever your choice of shirt, you need to also consider the kind of suit you’re getting for your big day. But if you don’t know how to choose your suit either, don’t worry, there’s help available for you.

The last thing you need is something (read someone) else to worry about as you plan for your wedding. Yet, you also want them to look great and be in their element. Find out how to bring out the best in them while still meeting your goals.

DON’T DICTATE

Ever heard of the word “bridezilla”? You can easily become one if you overthink your wedding details and make unrealistic demands. Or end up ordering everyone around, oops! But then where do you find the balance. Try this trick:

A lot of brides and grooms debate if they should give their bridal party freedom to make style choices.

Some think it’s best to dictate every aspect of their look. Others choose not to be so strict with their fashion rules…

But, depending on how they like to dress and what type of jewelry they prefer, that could go wrong for a few reasons.

Your junior bridesmaid could show up wearing a casual layered necklace. Your MOH might try to steal the show in a glitzy Swarovski crystal statement necklace. Your best friend from college might decide to rock a gold choker while everyone else opts for a simple bar necklace.

If you don’t lay down some rules early on, you could end up with a big old mess of white gold, rose gold, and sterling silver in all different looks and styles.

And this is what makes jewelry gifts perfect. It’ll send the message of “Thanks for being a part of my wedding” rather than “I don’t trust your taste in jewelry.” Read more at Bella Bridesmaids

Gifting your bridesmaids with jewelry is a win-win whichever way you look at it.

HAIR ACCESSORIES

If you choose to include hair accessories as part of your gift to your bridesmaids, you may want to buy them depending on their hair length.

Short hair doesn’t care, so there are no limitations to hair accessories options. Pins, hair Combs and headbands are some appropriate wedding hair accessories for short hair. For casual weddings, our colorful yet complementary headband is perfect for suits and knee-length dresses. If you’re going Bohemian, wispy bejeweled pins are just perfect for outdoor weddings. For the classic bride, opt for encrusted combs on mermaid dresses for the perfect look…

Long hair is very versatile and easy to work with. Hence, the weather, dress, and wedding styles are important for choosing wedding hairstyles for long hair that complement accessories. A headpiece is perfect for hair down on a strapless dress in the summer. For the minimalist and classic bride, opt for simple hair combs on chignon or half updo hairstyles. Accessories for long hair like the bridal hair vine pushes elegance, giving a feminine look on a full ball gown. Read more at Wedding Forward

With hair accessories, your girls get to have more freedom and a unique design for each one.

JEWELRY

It may be difficult to choose jewelry gifts for your girls since they have different personalities. But there are some considerations you shouldn’t miss out on.

“If you never wear earrings, let’s not use your wedding day as the first time you bring out a statement earring,” explains Hartman.

Instead, take note of the pieces you feel most comfortable in and turn those up a notch. Never leave home without a stud? Find a more formal version with multiple stones. Love a good arm candy stack? Layer two glitzier bracelets of the same style. Another approach: think back on outfits you’ve worn and loved for other formal occasions—such as other people’s weddings—and pick jewelry pieces in a similar vein. Read more at Brides

If one or two of your girls don’t wear earrings at all, the same rule applies. Let them be, but find something else that’ll enhance their looks.

This may sound like too much work for you as a bride, but guess what?
